| I love drawing trees...all shapes, sizes, and kinds of trees. I'm fascinated by their structure and its diversity. I think trees have personality and in the realms of "Fantasy Art" they also have voices, expressions, and human characteristics. This can be seen in "Tree Ents" in artwork and in movies. Ultimately, Trees have many uses and functions that make them special. Some provide food while others provide shelter. They provide warmth to families in the winter through firewood and provide a cool shade to rest under in the heat of summer. They provide us with clean air to breath and paper products for books and paper for education. For artists they are a mainstay...Paper is a staple for us and a venue for our creativity...an extension of our imaginations brought to life on paper! I think Trees can bring forth emotion in those who take the time to appreciate them. Trees are planted to celebrate the birth of a child and to grow with that child. Trees are planted to memorialize the life of someone special so that part of them lives on long after they are gone. Where would we be without Trees? The answer is simple... We simply would not be! This Family Tree in particular was drawn to show the diversity within families and to celebrate that diversity. Families are like trees...They are not "cookie-cutter" images of each other but are unique and special each in their own way. I've done two separate versions of this particular Family tree to post and show its diversity further...The first brightly colored and healthy yet diverse and the second a bit darker to represent the dysfunction in some families but to also show that good "people" can still come from adversity and even dysfunction in families and still grow and thrive and become something special! Don't let diversity or dysfunction define what you can become... Be diverse and unique like trees... When one door of happiness closes, another opens;
but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us...
